The first accurate description of leprosy appeared before A.D.300 in the writings of the Indian physician Susruta. Historians do not know when or where leprosy originated. Susruta performed many operations related to leprosy and other diseases related to skin. Some of those operations can be compared to modern day plastic surgery.
